Tool & Die Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Tool and Die Supervisor to lead our tool room operations within a dynamic manufacturing environment. This leadership role requires a strong background in machining, die fabrication, and team supervision. The ideal candidate will oversee the creation, maintenance, and repair of tools, dies, and fixtures, ensuring that all work meets quality standards and production schedules. The Supervisor will collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

Supervise a team of tool and die makers, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.

Oversee the design, fabrication, and modification of tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures in support of production goals.

Ensure adherence to safety protocols and best practices within the tool room.

Coordinate with engineering and production departments to interpret blueprints and ensure tools meet design specifications.

Manage preventive maintenance schedules for tooling and equipment to minimize downtime.

Monitor tool room inventory, request materials or parts as needed, and maintain accurate records of tooling usage and maintenance.

Review and approve CAM programming and machining processes to optimize productivity and accuracy.

Inspect completed tools and dies for conformance to specifications, ensuring quality standards are consistently met.

Lead problem-solving initiatives related to tooling failures or production issues, driving root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Support process improvement efforts and participate in cross-functional project teams.

Experience

Proven leadership experience in a tool and die or machining environment, with a strong understanding of manufacturing operations.

Extensive hands-on experience with machining equipment (CNC and manual), welding, and tool assembly techniques.

Strong understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T, and precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.

Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage workflow, and meet production deadlines.

Proficiency in CAM software and machining programming is highly desirable.

Excellent problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.

Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
