Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Solar Permit Specialist to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing, submitting, and tracking permit applications for residential and commercial solar PV installations, with a specific focus on jurisdictions within Pennsylvania and Ohio. This role requires a solid understanding of state-specific codes, utility requirements, and AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) processes.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and submit complete solar permit application packages to local AHJs and utility companies in PA and OH.

Track and manage permit statuses, proactively resolving issues or delays.

Review engineering plans and documentation for accuracy and compliance with local regulations.

Maintain updated knowledge of state and local building, electrical, and fire codes applicable to solar energy systems.

Coordinate with design, engineering, and installation teams to ensure smooth project progression.

Communicate professionally with building departments, customers, and internal stakeholders.

Maintain an organized database of permits, re-submittals, and approvals.

Research and Register in AHJs that we have not worked in previously

Assist in developing and improving permitting processes and best practices.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of experience in solar permitting, specifically in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Strong knowledge of state and local codes, permitting processes, and interconnection standards.

Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Bachelor's degree in renewable energy, engineering, business, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience accepted.
