Job Summary:
VHC Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) specializing in Neurology to join our dynamic team. This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide high quality, comprehensive care to patients with neurological conditions, as an integral member of a high performing team. This role is predominantly an office-based position, to support our Interventional Neurology team, to see office consults, hospital follow-ups, and to help round on Inpatients before or after their procedure. It is a midweek, Monday-Friday role during normal business hours of 8am-5pm with no call coverage requirements. The NP will work collaboratively with our Neurology, Interventional Neurology, Epilepsy, and Migraine teams as part of a multi-disciplinary team to assess, diagnose, and manage neurological conditions, striving to optimize patient outcomes, improve quality of life, and provide the best patient care experience in our area.
Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough neurological assessments of patients, including physical examinations, detailed medical history reviews, and appropriate diagnostic tests.
Approximately 70% office-based and 30% Inpatient, primarily working with our Interventional Neurologist.
The number of patients seen by the Nurse Practitioner will vary on a daily basis
We estimate that he / she will see between ten and twenty patients per day
The Nurse Practitioner may be responsible for initial history and physical examinations, admissions orders, progress notes, medical orders, transfer orders to various units and consultation with other health care members
Document patient encounters accurately and in a timely manner, utilizing electronic medical records systems.
Stay current with advancements in neurology through continuous learning, attending conferences, and staying abreast of relevant research and best practices.
Adhere to legal and ethical standards of practice, maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with all applicable laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in VA.
Certification as FNP or ACNP. Specialization or focus in Neurology is highly preferred.
Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Neurology, preferred.
Strong clinical expertise in diagnosing and managing a wide range of neurological conditions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
Proficiency in using electronic medical records systems, EPIC preferred.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
