Job Summary
Under the direction of Academic Affairs, the Simulation Operator is primarily responsible for preparing and collaborating with faculty to schedule simulation events, supporting students and faculty during simulations, managing program evaluations, and providing technical support for standardized patient scheduling and platform training. This position supports immersive simulation experience and has no responsibility for providing direct care to patients. This position collaborates and works closely with the Academic Affairs department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Programs software to support sim center events.
Supports/assists standardized patients to create a virtual healthcare setting
Coordinates and schedules standardized patient training.
Coordinates and manages standardized patient schedules for simulated events.
Assists with training faculty in the use of simulation technology.
Serves as primary technical support for faculty, standardized patients, and students utilizing simulation.
Collaborates with faculty, standardized patients, and students in using
simulation.
Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment as needed for simulation.
Provides recommendations for the budget and purchase of equipment, supplies, and materials related to simulation.
Attends meetings or continuing education to maintain currency with simulation technology and use.
Operates and maintains audio/visual equipment used in simulation.
Assist with data entry for various recordkeeping
Records video and takes photos as requested for simulation events.
Maintains and troubleshoots interactive video conferencing systems and related technology including backing up and archiving of data.
Provides technical support for the Canvas Catalog platform.
Communicates in a positive, professional manner with faculty instructors, students, and clients of the Simulation Center.
Tests and runs scenarios with faculty instructors, ensuring that the facility and equipment are set up for teaching sessions.
Works with the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and the CITL team in simulation coordination.
Provide service to the University through activities such as involvement in FNU shared governance (e.g. committees, workgroups), FNU sponsored activities (e.g. charity drives, community-outreach activities), and/or service to the profession (e.g. presentations, profession organization committee work).

Required Skills/Abilities
Individual must possess the knowledge and the skills and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:
Understanding of patient care simulation technologies and applications
Knowledge of the features and capabilities of basic multimedia equipment, including recording equipment and operating video and DSLR cameras
Knowledge of studio lighting setup
Knowledge of computer environments and end-user needs, to include operating systems, interactive video conferencing platforms, and multimedia content.
Computer literacy to include word-processing, spreadsheets and databases, data collection and learning management systems.
Basic knowledge of HTML5 preferred.
Experience with video editing applications, with a preference for TechSmith, Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Products.
Basic inventory and material storage, and record-keeping procedures
Commitment to utilizing simulation methodology in learning and its ability to transform nursing education
Reliable broadband internet connection and computer hardware capable of maintaining video streaming and recording.
Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Excellent organizational skills and ability to think logically and follow directions
Creativity and flexibility in designing innovative approaches to solving problems
Demonstrated excellent verbal, written and electronic communication skills
Demonstrated ability using a life cycle management process for implementation of changes in technology

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Certified Health Care Simulation Operation Specialist (preferred)
Demonstrated mastery in standard software and other technologies for instructional use, to include Google Apps for Education, TechSmith Relay/Camtasia Studio, interactive video conferencing platforms (Zoom preferred), and Adobe Creative Suite Products.
Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing learning management systems (Canvas preferred).
Knowledge of current accessibility standards such as Section 508 and WCAG and their application to the online learning environment.
Knowledge of adult learning theory and best practices including distance education and active learning and trends in educational technologies
Minimum of three years experience in online learning with proven skills in innovative learning experiences
Combination of education, training and/or experience which demonstrate the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of this position.

Reports directly to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
