Job Description
Role: Systems Administrator
Contract Term: June 9, 2025 - June 30, 2025. The end date is because of the fiscal year and it's expected to be renewed for a year or more based on performance, need, and budget availability.
Location: In-office, 5 days a week, Tallahassee, FL 32399. Candidates must reside in Tallahassee or the surrounding area.
Work Hours: Flexibility to work hours between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM, after hours, weekends, and either on a rotation or as part of a regular and on-call work schedule.
Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Administrator. This role is critical in assisting with the oversight, management, troubleshooting, and execution of cloud services and platforms that support infrastructure, applications, data, and other business needs. The ideal candidate will be a key player in architecting, designing, facilitating, leading, coordinating, and directing technology initiatives across various areas, including infrastructure administration, application development, data management & analytics, cybersecurity, external hosting, identity and access management, network, security hardening, privacy, and compliance. This position requires ownership of complex issues to support business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Support and expand infrastructure.
Coordinate server configuration and administration with multiple parties.
Make recommendations for future server and software upgrades.
Monitor systems and applications to ensure security, availability, and performance.
Establish systems by evaluating network performance issues, planning and executing equipment selection, installation, configuration, and testing, defining network policies and procedures, and establishing connections and firewalls.
Maintain network and systems performance by performing systems monitoring and analysis, performance tuning, troubleshooting systems and application problems, and escalating problems to vendors.
Build and manage relationships in a matrixed environment.
Identify opportunities to refactor solutions for better performance, cost, and efficiency.
Create and manage Azure DevOps projects, Git repositories, and pipelines.
Oversee and configure Azure DevOps organizational settings.
Recommend and assist with the building and hosting of complex application solutions.
Understand, deploy, and manage Microsoft Azure and/or other cloud services.
Understand, deploy, and manage Microsoft Power Platform.
Understand and manage Microsoft 365 services.
Support other IT staff, including developers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or technical institute degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, OR equivalent work experience.
Required Experience:
5 – 8 years of professional experience in information systems engineering or another related field.
3 – 5 years of IT work experience in infrastructure/network environments in systems operations, support, maintenance, and administration.
2 – 3 years experience with Server 2012 R2, 2016, 2019, and 2022.
2 – 3 years IIS Administration.
2 – 3 years of network communications, including TCP/IP and DNS Samba/CIFS file sharing and NTFS permissions.
Highly Desired Experience:
2 – 3 years of strong professional experience in Microsoft Azure cloud systems.
2 – 3 years of experience with other cloud providers, such as AWS or GCP.
2 – 3 years of professional experience in the administration of Microsoft software.
3 – 5 years of professional experience supporting middleware such as API Management, IT Service Automation tools, and batch job services.
