Role Overview
We’re seeking a highly skilled and motivated Backend DevOps Engineer to join our engineering team in Sunnyvale. You will design, build, and maintain scalable infrastructure and backend systems that support Meta’s mission-critical applications. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our systems are reliable, automated, secure, and efficient at scale.
Responsibilities
Design and implement backend systems and DevOps tooling for deployment, monitoring, and scalability.
Automate CI/CD pipelines and optimize system performance across development, staging, and production environments.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate infrastructure-as-code (IaC) into the software development lifecycle.
Develop backend services and APIs in languages in C++.
Build robust monitoring and alerting systems using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or equivalent.
Troubleshoot infrastructure and deployment issues, ensuring high availability and reliability.
Implement best practices for security, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
Drive innovation through the adoption of new tools, cloud-native technologies, and scalable architecture patterns.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
4+ years of experience in backend development and/or DevOps engineering.
Proficient in one or more backend programming in C++.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Strong understanding of Linux systems, networking, and security.
Experience with CI/CD systems such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
Experience with container technologies (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
Solid grasp of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Pulumi.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in large-scale, high-performance production environments.
Familiarity with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
Contributions to open-source DevOps or infrastructure projects.
Passion for performance tuning, operational excellence, and systems reliability.
