Utilities Engineer

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Utilities Engineer to join our facilities team. This role is primarily responsible for the maintenance, operation, and troubleshooting of boiler systems, steam rooms, and related utilities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with industrial boiler systems, steam generation equipment, and a solid understanding of utilities engineering principles.
Responsibilities
Operate, monitor, and maintain high- and low-pressure boiler systems and steam room equipment.
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure safe and efficient system performance.
Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues to minimize downtime and ensure consistent utilities support.
Maintain logs, records, and documentation for compliance with safety and operational standards.
Collaborate with other maintenance staff and departments to support production needs.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory bodies as applicable.
Assist with utility upgrades, system installations, and equipment modifications as needed.
Respond to emergencies and support after-hours operations as required.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED (required).
Proven experience working with boiler systems and steam room equipment (minimum 2 years preferred).
Knowledge of utilities engineering principles, including steam, water, and compressed air systems.
Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and control systems related to boiler operations.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Basic computer skills for logging maintenance data and communicating with the team.
Physical ability to lift equipment and perform maintenance in various environments.
Boiler Operator License or certification (preferred, or willingness to obtain).
Working Conditions
Exposure to heat, steam, noise, and industrial equipment.
May require standing, climbing, and lifting for extended periods.
Availability to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts, if necessary.
