Role Overview

We are seeking a Preconstruction Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of preconstruction activities for negotiated and D-B projects across the greater Phoenix area. This role is essential to ensuring budget accuracy, design alignment, and smooth project transitions to operations.

Key Responsibilities

Direct all preconstruction phases from schematic pricing through GMP submission

Manage internal estimating resources, design consultants, and external partners

Lead design coordination meetings, value engineering reviews, and scope alignment

Prepare and maintain project budgets, cost models, and precon schedules

Identify procurement and long-lead risks in early planning stages

Interface with owners, architects, and consultants during planning and proposal phases

Review and manage subcontractor input, bid coverage, and scope gaps

Collaborate with operations and project management teams to ensure project handoff

Mentor junior precon staff and contribute to department process refinement

Ideal Candidate Profile

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering preferred

7+ years in GC preconstruction or estimating with vertical commercial or industrial projects

Strong experience with CMAR and Design-Build delivery methods

Proficiency in construction cost modeling tools, takeoff software, and Procore

Ability to lead meetings, interface directly with clients, and drive design-to-budget outcomes

Skilled in subcontractor communication, risk identification, and proposal strategy

Clear communicator with strong organizational and coordination capabilities

Compensation and Benefits

Base Salary Range: $130,000 – $165,000 (dependent on experience and market data)
