Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Supervise and lead a team of drafters and designers in producing detailed engineering drawings for compressors, pressure vessels, piping systems, and full packages in refrigeration and oil & gas applications.
• Hires and trains drafting department staff.
• Mentors, trains, and coach’s direct reports to increase competency and job satisfaction.
• Adheres to safety policies and procedures, as well as ISO 9001 standard operating procedures as related to your department.
• Partners with HR for discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
• Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Responsibilities/Job Duties:
• Manage and enforce the use of AutoCAD Product Data Management (PDM) systems to maintain drawing/version control, document integrity, and engineering change management.
• Develop, implement, and support automated design workflows using Autodesk iLogic to streamline drafting processes, reduce manual errors, and increase productivity.
• Review and approve engineering drawings, including part, subassembly and full package layouts, ensuring compliance with technical requirements and industry codes (ASME, API, TEMA, ASHRAE), and project specifications.
• Work with product engineers, application engineers, sales and production to ensure alignment on design intent, drawing standards, and deliverable schedules.
• Provide ongoing training, guidance, and mentorship to drafting personnel in advanced AutoCAD, Inventor techniques, PDM processes, and iLogic scripting.
• Establish and maintain drafting standards, ensuring consistency and best practices across all projects.
• Assign work, balance drafting team resources, and track progress to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
• Conduct reviews and quality checks to ensure high technical accuracy and compliance with all design requirements.
• Continuously improve drafting department tools, workflows, and automation strategies.
• Standardization of various electrical drawings.
• Engineering work improvement using AutoCAD Electrical or similar drafting software.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Strong understanding of internal business practices and project management.
• Advanced proficiency in Autodesk related software and programing tools such as AutoCAD mechanical, AutoCAD electrical, Inventor, PDM, iLogi etc.
• Excellent communication and team-building skills, with the ability to manage and mentor team members.
• Proven ability to identify and implement automation solutions to streamline drafting processes and improve productivity.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as needed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred.
• Over 5 years of experience in a supervisory position.
