Set and lead people, culture, and learning strategy alongside executive leadership

Oversee compliance with California, Nevada, and federal employment law, OSHA, and Workers’ Compensation regulations
Own the full employee lifecycle: recruiting, onboarding, development, retention, and offboarding
Drive initiatives for leadership development, coaching, and performance improvement
Serve as the HR point of contact for staff relations, investigations, and conflict resolution
Partner cross-functionally on training development, org planning, and talent strategy
Manage the HR budget and collaborate on department-wide and organization-wide projects
Provide direct coaching, support and mentorship to staff and managers
Represent the organization as a subject matter expert in HR and people strategy
Learning & Teaching Responsibilities
Develop and lead training initiatives for both staff and volunteers
Build and maintain documentation for HR and operational processes
Serve as a mentor and coach to direct reports and broader team
Promote a culture of continuous learning and development
What We’re Looking For
10–15 years of progressive HR experience
Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field (Psychology, Business, Sociology, etc.)
Deep understanding of CA and NV employment laws and compliance
4–5 years of management experience, including budgeting and performance oversight
Experience with compensation strategy, succession planning, and org development
HRMS proficiency and comfort with tools like ADP, LMS platforms, and performance systems
Excellent leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
Comfortable in both high-level strategic discussions and ground-level execution
Bonus: Previous participation or alignment with mission-based, large-scale events or community-centered organizations
Requirements
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Willingness to work in both office and field-based environments, including travel to on-site events and working in varied outdoor conditions when needed
Location
This is a full-time, in-person position based in San Francisco, with travel to project/event sites in Nevada and beyond.
