The Foodservice Lab Technician 1 is responsible supporting Foodservice Research & Development among other product development teams to help facilitate new product development, product or process improvements, and/or protection of supply. The Foodservice Lab Technician 1 will assist with preparing prototypes, per Product Scientist instructions.

Responsibilities

Assist the Food and Principal Scientists, supporting Retail, Foodservice, Innovation, and Alternate Supply work, based on priority for the Dressings, Dips, and Sauce team.

Rapidly and accurately develop prototypes, based on formulations and instructions provided by scientists.

Ability to execute multiple versions of Dressing, Sauce, and/or Dip prototypes, delivering on consistency between samples.

Ensure that all safety guidelines and protocols are followed to maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment

Clean equipment and notify appropriate parties if equipment is not functioning properly

Restock lab supplies as needed.

Responsible for assisting with the organization, proper storage, and handling of raw materials

Attention to detail and recognition when materials are past their shelf life or do not meet their quality attributes.

Proper handling of raw materials, returning to storage with the containers cleaned and properly sealed.

Assist with the organization of the warehouse and maintaining proper ingredient rotation, as needed.

Recognition of Allergens and proper handling and use of those materials.

Assist with dressing and sauce lab and processing lab equipment for exploration of production technologies or new product development, as needed.

Document Visual and Micro Swabbing of equipment prior to use and ensure all GMPs and Food Safety Guidelines are followed.

Record pertinent information for traceability (dates of production by product, raw material lot codes and quantities used, quantity and pack type of finished goods produced, and quantity shipped, and shipped to location and contact).

Prepare samples for Food Scientist to investigate new processing and/or packaging techniques and equipment.

Maintain discretion on all company's new product development and intellectual properties.

Provide support with preparation of samples for presentations and preparing and shipping samples, as needed.

Qualifications

· 0-3 years Food Development lab experience or related role

· College Degree (B.S.) in Food Science or related science preferred

· Dependable and punctual

· Fundamental written and verbal communication skills

· Capable and willing to follow detailed instructions and specifications

· Capacity to learn tasks and supporting process and methodology

· Ability to work independently on pre-assigned tasks

· Works respectfully and professionally; contributes to a team environment

· Basic computer skills

Working Conditions/Environment

· Working primarily in research and development lab or kitchen environment where employee is regularly required to speak, see, hear, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers.

· Light to heavy lifting required. Not to exceed 50 lbs.
