FIRE BATTALION CHIEF
$93,330 - $102,663 (D.O.E.)
The Fredericksburg Fire Department is actively seeking qualified candidates to join our team as a Battalion Chief. This role involves providing leadership and supervision to field operations and support services.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise firefighting and EMS operations across multiple work locations.
Direct and manage station administration and emergency response activities.
Deploy personnel and equipment efficiently during emergencies.
Evaluate situations and develop suppression and EMS plans at emergency scenes.
Oversee and supervise company level officers to ensure company readiness.
Handles disciplinary matters and solves employee problems.
Conducts performance evaluations on personnel.
Will be able to perform public relations activities by speaking before civic groups, business leaders, other agency heads and City officials on the mission of the fire department and its goals and objectives of providing customer service.
Prepares and maintains budgets for their assigned areas of responsibility within Fire Department.Benefits:

High school diploma or GED equivalent
Specialized training in firefighting and emergency response
7 years of experience in the Fire Service
At least 1 year of experience as a Fire Captain or equivalent
Valid driver’s licenseMinimum Special Requirements:
Firefighter I and II
Hazardous Materials Operations
Emergency Medical Technician
Emergency Vehicle Operator Level III
Fire Instructor I
Fire Officer I
Obtain Fire Officer II within 12 months of appointment
Obtain Fire Instructor II within 12 months of appointment
Obtain Fire Officer III within 24 months of appointment
Obtain ICS 300 and ICS 400 within 24 months of appointmentAdditional Information:
Criminal background and driving record checks required.
