DESCRIPTION:
The Nassau BOCES Department of Regional Schools and Instructional Programs is seeking a full-time Nail & Waxing Technician Teacher for the Joseph M. Barry Career & Technical Education Center. The successful candidate must be a New York State licensed cosmetologist and/or licensed nail technician with a valid waxing certification. This position involves teaching occupational program content, industry processes, hands-on applications, and essential workplace skills to high school students in a career center setting. Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to:
Develop and implement lesson plans designed to prepare students for both the written and practical components of the New York State licensure examination.
Manage the classroom environment and meet individual student needs through differentiated instruction and evaluation.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and performance.
Integrate technology into instruction to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
Teach core subjects such as sanitation, infection control, salon safety, human anatomy, the fundamentals of advanced nails and waxing, as well as salon business and professional practices.
REQUIREMENTS:
New York State Education Department Certification: Teacher Certification or Transitional A, Initial or Professional in Cosmetology and/or Nail Specialty Grade 7-12.
New York State Cosmetology License (preferred), or valid Nail Technician and Wax Technician licenses.
Minimum of five years of practical industry experience.
A strong background in nail and waxing techniques.
Proficiency in using technology as both an instructional and student management tool.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, administrators and parents.
SALARY: As per labor contract.
