Network Security Engineer
Summary/Objective
The Network Security Engineer is responsible for designing the safeguards to secure the network against unauthorized access, cyber threats and data breaches. This role requires a deep understanding of network infrastructure and security protocols, as well as the ability to implement and managed security measures effectively.
Essential Functions
-Design and Implement Security Measures: Develop comprehensive security strategies that include firewalls, VPNs, data protection protocols, and intrusion detection systems.
-Monitor Security Systems: Regularly check network and security performance to ensure there are no breaches, infections, or other security incidents. Use advanced software and methodologies to monitor the health of the network.
-Respond to Security Incidents: Act swiftly to resolve security breaches or potential threats. Analyze the source of security breaches and implement changes to prevent future incidents.
-Conduct Risk Assessments and Audits: Evaluate the current security measures and identify vulnerabilities. Perform regular audits to ensure compliance with security policies and regulations.
-Develop Security Protocols: Create and maintain company-wide best security practices. Guide team members on security protocols and conduct training sessions to ensure all employees are educated on the latest security threats and responses.
-Collaborate with IT Team: Work closely with the IT department to implement new hardware and software into the company’s network.
-Stay Updated on IT Security Trends: Maintain current knowledge of security technology advancements, software releases, and information security standards
- Adheres to company policies and procedures in addition to regulations, laws and other requirements from applicable governing bodies, certification, licensure and/or accreditation entities, etc.
- This job operates in a professional office environment.

Education, Skills, Experience and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and progressive, related experience.
- Three to five years of technical troubleshooting experience in a role where analytical troubleshooting and problem-resolution skills were required.
- Experience with scripting languages.
- Advanced use of administrator-level tasks with the following: Windows OS 2012(r2), 2016/2019/2022
- Knowledge of network security systems, intrusion detection systems, and data back-up.
- Detailed knowledge of Windows server setup, deployment, and maintenance.
- Prior experience working with a non-profit or health-oriented organization is a plus.

Proficient in technologies like firewalls, VPN, data loss prevention, IDS/IPS, web-proxy, and security audits
Certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CompTIA Security +, and Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) are highly desirable
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record, if applicable.

Work Hours: Typically, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel Requirements: Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
