Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO)

We are seeking two experienced Site Safety & Health Officers to oversee safety operations and quality control for a long-term federal project in Fort Greely, Alaska. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-impact mission involving hazardous facility demolition and environmental remediation.Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $120,000 - $140,000 annually
Relocation Assistance: $10,000
Per Diem: $175/day (7 days/week)
Completion Bonus: $150/month
Pay Frequency: Weekly

Shifts/Hours: 50 hours per week; Monday-Friday, 5x10sProject Overview
The SSHO will oversee safety compliance on a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project, including the decommissioning and demolition of a building and reactor, and hazardous waste operations.Required Qualifications
EM 385-1-1 USACE Certification
OSHA 30
HAZWOPER 40 and 8-hour Refresher
5+ years of experience in hazardous waste cleanup or hazardous facility demolitionKey Responsibilities
Serve as the on-site lead for Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management
Coordinate with Project and Site Managers while reporting to the SHM
Develop, implement, and enforce HSE protocols
Monitor field activities to ensure daily compliance and safe operations
Conduct hazard analyses and implement controls
Lead weekly safety audits and inspections
Oversee site-wide HSE training and ensure all certifications are current
Report and investigate incidents; maintain documentation
Provide input at planning meetings and lead daily safety briefings
Support industrial hygiene and environmental compliance programsSkills & Knowledge
Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to manage multiple tasks with strong attention to detail
Effective in both independent and team environments
OSHA outreach training experience (preferred)
Knowledge:
Deep understanding of federal and military safety standards
Demonstrated experience with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Department of Defense projects
