HSL is hiring for a detail-driven Auditor to join our team!

The Auditor is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and policy compliance of operational and financial documentation. This role focuses on conducting detailed audits of resident files (paper and electronic records), financial audits, incentive programs, marketing and leasing reports, and claims. The Auditor also supports policy enforcement and provides feedback to improve procedural compliance and efficiency.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED

Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of experience in property management or audit compliance-related roles; or combination of education and experience.

Strong understanding of leasing, property files, and fair housing regulations.

Experience with property management software such as Yardi, Knock, Lease Lock, and Excel.

Responsibilities and Duties:

File Audits: Conduct routine and as needed audits of resident leasing files to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with internal policies and fair housing regulations. These will be paper files and electronic files (Yardi).

Reporting Reviews: Evaluate Knock and other leasing performance reports for consistency, data accuracy, and utilization trends.

Lease Lock Claims: Review and validate Lease Lock claims, ensuring proper documentation, policy adherence, and timely submission.

Petty Cash & Card Reviews: Audit petty cash logs and prepaid card usage for compliance with expense policies and proper reconciliation procedures.

Bonus Sheets & Qualifications: Review team member bonus eligibility and documentation; verify that bonus criteria and support materials are complete and policy compliant.

Policy Adherence: Conduct reviews of operational processes against internal company policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs); identify areas of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.

Reporting & Documentation: Prepare detailed audit reports with findings, risk ratings, and action plans; communicate results to leadership and property teams.

Support & Training: Partner with Operation Management and Training Management to support corrective actions and offer education on compliance expectations and process improvements.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Proven track record of identifying inconsistencies, procedural gaps, and risks.

Able to analyze large volumes of data and documentation accurately.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clear audit findings and present recommendations to both corporate leadership and site-level teams.

Skilled in balancing diplomacy with accountability when engaging with on-site teams.

Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and data validation tools.

Comfortable using auditing tools, checklists, and reporting dashboards.

Travel and Physical Requirements:

Frequency: Up to 30% travel, with potential for more during peak project periods.

Locations: Travel primarily to company locations/properties.

Stand and walk or sit alternatively depending on specific needs of the day. Estimate 60% of time sitting at desk.

Constant need (66% to 100% of time) to perform the following physical activities:

Writing/Typing o Telephone o Finger

Operation of office equipment
