Steampunk is seeking a Technical Project Manager who is creative and is a hands-on expert with delivering innovative technology solutions.
Responsibilities will include team leadership for the complete life cycle of solution development and delivery, providing Agile Project Management support and Scrum Master support for Agile teams, coordinating with product owners and stakeholders on prioritizing the backlog, creating release schedules and roadmaps based on assessment recommendations, and establishing technical practices and release management standards that align with the customer's process. This individual will also ensure the team is following, and effective at, Agile scrum processes as well as driving high client satisfaction.

As a Technical Project Manager, you will be leading the project tasking and delivery in a government client consulting environment. You will be a client liaison, team coach, and mentor.
You will also:
Manage and maintain successful/results-oriented relationships with the client, as well as identify and pursue new opportunities with existing client.
Develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, manage remote project delivery team, and possess the ability to facilitate technical discussions to troubleshoot project implementation issues.
Assess the current organization and delivery environment and recommend optimal Agile practices tailored to the client.
Provide the Agile Scrum Master support. Attend Agile ceremonies and provide input as needed.
Remove blockers to ensure project success.
Coach the Product Owner and team on backlog refinement and prioritization.
Handle challenging client situations and offer technical and business guidance and direction to client executives.
Serve as the technical lead for infrastructure, cloud, and visualization initiatives.
Provide expert-level engineering and strategic advisory services to support cloud platform development and modernization across public and private cloud environments.
Lead the automation of operational workflows to improve service resilience, reduce manual labor, and ensure consistency.
Develop and maintain system documentation, scripts, and configuration artifacts to support compliance and continuity requirements.
Collaborate with government stakeholders, system administrators, and engineers to ensure performance, scalability, and security of the hosting environment.
Lead and manage staff, monitor staff performance.
Evaluate project feasibility, eliminate non-productive tasking, and find creative ways to ensure project delivery and if feasible accelerate delivery.
Assist staff with training needs to create skills expansion and career advancement opportunities.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
10+ years of progressive experience supporting Cloud Platform infrastructure, virtualization, and cloud integration in large-scale enterprise or federal environments.
Recognized expertise in cloud native services, cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud), and infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Python).
Demonstrated experience supporting mission-critical private and public cloud operations, including disaster recovery planning, high availability (HA), and operational scripting.
Experience advising senior government IT leadership on infrastructure modernization and automation strategies.
Strong judgment, negotiation skills, organizational, and analytical skills.
Experience working in a complex engineering environment with prior experience as a technical project manager.
Ability to establish trust with a variety of stakeholders and customers.
Self-managed and self-starter, ability to work independently.

Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills.
Must have and maintain an active certification.
Ability to hold a position of public trust with the US government.
Local to Washington, DC area.
Have a current NIH Clearance.
Preferred
PMP certification

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $140,000 to $180,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
