POSITION SUMMARY:
Florida Medical Center is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Painter to join our Facilities Services team. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the professional appearance and physical integrity of our hospital campus. The ideal candidate brings experience in commercial painting, excellent customer service skills, and a commitment to safety in a healthcare environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of painting and wall finishing tasks including surface preparation, priming, painting, and finishing on interior and exterior surfaces.
- Repair walls, patch surfaces, and perform touch-ups as needed throughout the hospital facility.
- Apply varnishes, stains, and wallcoverings as appropriate to designated areas.
- Maintain an accurate log of paint colors, materials used and completed work locations for future reference.
- Coordinate with other facilities team members to ensure minimal disruption to hospital operations during maintenance activities.
- Operate painting tools and equipment safely and effectively, including ladders, scaffolding, sprayers, and other hand tools.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly store materials and supplies.
- Utilize the hospital's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to complete and manage work orders.
- Follow all hospital safety guidelines and procedures, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Attend required safety trainings and departmental meetings.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, staff, and visitors through timely and courteous communication.
Lifting Requirements Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 50lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking. Must be able to safety use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades

CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the hospital. Works with supervisor/manager and other members of section or department to promote a harmonious work environment. Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner. Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Works with customers to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional painting experience; healthcare or commercial setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and tools.
- Ability to follow blueprints, work orders, and detailed instructions.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and working within infection prevention protocols in healthcare settings.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work at heights, climb ladders and scaffolds, work in confined spaces, and withstand various temperature conditions.
- Must be fluent in English to interact with patients and staff
- Experience working in a hospital or similar healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of wallcovering installation and specialty coatings.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole) a plus.
This role requires regular physical activity, including bending, walking, climbing, and working in various indoor and outdoor environments. The employee may be exposed to fumes, dust, noise, and chemicals typically used in painting applications. This position is dual shift for business needs, day and swing shift.
