The City of Lenexa Parks & Recreation Department is looking for a dependable and customer-focused Driver to provide group transportation for a variety of city programs and events. We’re seeking someone who values safety, enjoys working with the public, and takes pride in delivering a positive experience for passengers.

Position Summary

This position provides safe and reliable transportation to shuttle summer camp kids and various program and event participants. Driving will include shuttle transportation for daily outings for our two summer camp locations.

Schedule

This is a part-time position with a variable schedule. During the summer, the typical hours are Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Additional shifts may be available throughout the year, including daytime, evening, and weekend hours.

Key Responsibilities

Safely operate a school bus and/or 15-passenger shuttle.

Perform pre/post-trip vehicle inspections.

Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle.

Deliver exceptional customer service to all riders.

Navigate efficiently throughout the metro area.

Perform basic care and light maintenance of the shuttle vehicle.

Assist with groups, special events, and festivals when not driving.

Comply with city policies and safety standards.

Qualifications

Minimum:

High school diploma or GED

Must be 21 years of age or older

Must hold a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement

First Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire

Preferred:

Two years of experience transporting groups and providing customer service

School bus driving experience

General parks and recreation experience

Starting rate of pay is $18.75 per hour

Environmental and Physical Factors: This position requires the ability to sit for long periods, especially during special events. Applicants must possess visual acuity, the ability to distinguish colors in traffic signals, and the physical capability to assist with wheelchair lifts and transport-related tasks. Occasional lifting and moving of supplies and equipment are necessary.
