The Manager of Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance requires a self-motivated individual with a sense of urgency to manage an organization that will deliver to key project milestones and operate independently with limited oversight. Work collaboratively to achieve the overall business objectives. Make data-driven decisions and utilize critical thinking including risk/reward trade-offs, total lifecycle costs and benefits, and critical path timing. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to provide regular progress reports and summaries to all levels of the organization from the shop floor to the board room. Utilize the talent development and performance management processes to build a strong diverse team with forethought around succession planning; possess business acumen to provide resource and budget estimates and articulate business cases; and can plan and track resources across multiple, simultaneous projects.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Manufacturing Engineering Processes and Methods - Provide engineering support to the manufacturing divisions in terms of problem solving, equipment updating, methods specifications, and long-term planning for efficient manufacturing operations. Collaboratively work with the New Product Development (NPD) team to flawlessly launch and then continuously improve new products and processes. Ensure that the proper process documentation and controls are in place to consistently deliver products at the necessary quality, delivery, and cost targets.
Capital Equipment - Establish and present yearly and longer-range plans for capital equipment and facilities upgrades required to meet the strategic business plan. Deliver on approved programs.
Automation - Identify and implement automation projects company-wide. Develop processes to maintain and enhance existing equipment.
Maintenance and Tooling Services – Oversee the Mechanical, Electrical, Tooling, and Facilities Maintenance organizations for the Sheboygan Operation. Implement and continuously improve a preventive and predictive maintenance program. Improve overall production availability as it relates to equipment and tooling. Identify and implement productivity improvements as they relate to the maintenance organizations. Responsible for Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Programs.
Indirect Material Control – Establish and then continuously improve a formalized program as it relates to indirect manufacturing and maintenance materials. Reduce total indirect spend on a cost per unit basis through spending and usage analysis, project identification, and project execution because of said analysis.
Performance Management and Talent Development – In a timely manner and on a consistent basis provide candid feedback to employees regarding their performance. Challenge people to achieve their best and support them in their efforts for personal development. Establish succession plans for critical positions at all levels within the maintenance and engineering organizations. Participate in the hiring process to continue to build strong diverse teams.
Cost Reduction Management – Manages Cost Reduction Plan, leading the effort to identify and qualify projects, works with accounting for tracking and provides reports to Senior Leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS
Seven to ten years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a blended experience base in engineering and/or maintenance.
Three to five years of experience directly managing people.
Graduate degree in Business or Engineering preferred.
Proven track record of strong leadership and managerial skills. Communicate to all levels of management and outside sources. Delegate and work collaboratively with other functional departments.
Strong background in Lean Manufacturing. A passion and ability to truly engage people at all levels of an organization. A balanced focus between processes and systems as well as results.
Proficient knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (JD Edwards preferred.)
Previous experience in metal forming and assembly industry preferred.
Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
