Description
The IT Department is seeking an Enterprise Architect II who will be responsible for assisting with the planning and evaluation of approaches and solutions, and the development and maintenance of supporting artifacts and solutions. In this role, you will lead and support activities that guide the development, management, and governance of solutions aimed to enable Hennepin County’s future-state business capabilities and the realization of business outcomes on multiple small to medium sized initiatives as well as provide assistance with larger efforts.
Location and hours:
This position is remote. Remote workers may be required to come on-site 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. The designated work location for this position is in downtown Minneapolis at the Hennepin County Government Center, 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487. Work hours are Monday through Friday, with flexibility between 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Based on business needs of this position, hires must live in or relocate to Minnesota.

This is a full-time, benefit earning position. You must be a current regular or probationary employee of Hennepin County's IT department to apply for this position. Limited duration employees not eligible.

Employees may be eligible to receive an additional cash merit of up to $4,413.13 that can be earned annually based on performance.
In this position, you will:
Plan, organize, and direct discussions, information and research needed to define architecture for delivery teams (RFP, Project, Maintenance, Operations). Write up architectural solutions and present to the business, development teams, purchasing, security, or any additional teams who are responsible for executing the work.
Translate IT architecture user requirements into specified solutions by leading teams in architecture and solutioning decisions, develop solution recommendation, and as needed, develop related diagrams and summaries required to implement by researching new products and existing systems.
Apply information technology resources to planning, engineering, and architecture by collaborating with specialized architects, technical architects, security architects, business architects, and subject matter expert (SME)s as needed to identify solutions approved through gate reviews to ensure success of application and solution rollouts.
Develop technical standards and interface applications: research, document, and recommend patterns, building blocks, standards, and guidelines. Ensure organization adheres to policy, standards, and guidelines, identifying and managing exceptions.
Contribute to the planning of the overall organizational IT strategy, providing advice and guidance towards desirable outcomes.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Eight years or more of professional IT experience in a large-scale network environment.
Approved Hennepin County IT internship or completion of five college/vocational technology courses and six years or more of professional IT experience in a large-scale network environment.
Associate's degree in computer science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related field, or approved certification in an IT program and six years or more of professional IT experience in a large-scale network environment.
Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related field, and four years or more of professional IT experience in a large-scale network environment.

Solution architecture and/or strategic/technology planning at Hennepin County.
Various development languages (e.g., .Net, Python, Angular).
Various database technologies (e.g., SQL).
Project management and leadership.
Administration of computer operating systems, hardware and software.
Continuous improvement and innovation.
Strategic or technology planning.
IT Service Management (ITSM) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library.
Addressing racial equity, gender equity, LGBTQIA equity, neurodiversity equity, differing ability equity.
Implementing programs that advance racial equity to reduce disparities.
