The Barry Robinson Center is a residential treatment program serving adolescents, all of whom have a military connection. The purpose of the position is to provide direct care supervision/welfare of clients while ensuring safety and protection of their human rights in accordance with agency policies and procedures, specific to substance use.
This role involves building therapeutic relationships with the residents and being involved in their programming and treatment goals, while participating in their Treatment Plans and helping to facilitate and lead the 7 Challenges groups.
Responsibilities:
Building therapeutic relationships with clients
Participate with Treatment Team in developing and implementing the Initial Treatment Plan and subsequent Treatment Updates for each client
Complete the Seven Challenges training
Attend and facilitate all Seven Challenges groups and family consults
Assist with assessments and notes, and follow-ups post discharge
Evaluate behavioral, emotional, cognitive, spiritual and social needs of clients and family members
Coordinate, attend, and ensure the safety of clients on group outings off campus
Other responsibilities, as assigned
Schedule:
Full-time, 40 hours per week
The schedule would be 2-3 days per week between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, additionally there will be two days each month of required work past 5:00 pm.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Human Services; or Associates degree and 3 months experience working with children;
or High school graduate or GED certificate and have 6 months experience working with children.
Ideal candidate has a Bachelors degree in Human Services with six or more months experience working with children/adolescents in a mental health setting.
Must have CSAC-A or CSAC with the State of Virginia
If you do not already have CSAC-A/CSAC certification, must commit to starting educational courses and/or residency for CSAC-A/CSAC within 3 months of hire date
Experience working with substance use groups preferred and/or strong knowledge of the 7 Challenges Program
Excellent oral and written communication as well as interpersonal skills
Ability to problem solve and have sound clinical judgement to analyze and react appropriately
A passion for working with adolescents struggling with mental illness and/or substance use disorders (co-occurring disorders)

$3,000 per calendar year after 6 months of tenure
$5,000 per calendar year after 2 years of tenure
