Job Summary
The Operations Manager will oversee the daily operations of the metal manufacturing facility, managing welders, machinists, and supervisors to ensure efficient production, high-quality output, and a safe working environment. This role is responsible for optimizing processes, meeting production targets, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Team Management: Supervise and coordinate the activities of welders, machinists, and supervisors, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across teams.
Production Oversight: Plan, schedule, and monitor production processes to meet deadlines and quality standards for metal products.
Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements in manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs.
Quality Control: Ensure all products meet company and industry standards, working closely with quality assurance teams.
Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols, conduct regular safety audits, and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
Resource Management: Manage equipment, materials, and labor resources to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
Performance Monitoring: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production output, defect rates, and employee performance, providing regular reports to senior management.
Training and Development: Oversee training programs for welders, machinists, and supervisors to maintain a skilled and adaptable workforce.
Budget Oversight: Assist in developing and managing operational budgets, controlling costs while maintaining production goals.
Problem Resolution: Address operational challenges, including equipment malfunctions, staffing issues, or supply chain disruptions, in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role overseeing welders, machinists, or similar teams.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of metal manufacturing processes
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams, including technical and supervisory staff.
Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards in a manufacturing environment.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to identify inefficiencies and implement effective solutions.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with teams and reporting to management.
Software Proficiency: Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), Microsoft Office, and manufacturing software for production planning.
Preferred Skills
Certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies.
Knowledge of supply chain management and inventory control.
