Maintenance Manager, Manufacturing & Packaging

SMV Recruiting, LLC is actively looking for a Maintenance Manager for our well-established food manufacturing client in Syracuse. The Maintenance Manager will oversee maintenance for processing and packaging equipment, focusing on preventative maintenance, automation, and team leadership. This role collaborates with QA and production teams to minimize downtime and drive efficiency, requiring a strong engineering background, Lean Six Sigma, and packaging expertise. FYI this role reports directly to senior leadership and will have a seat at the table and a chance to have a huge influence as they grow. Responsibilities

Lead a team of 6 to 8 maintenance staff to oversee conveyers, mills, grinders, vertical fill form machines (VFFS), compressors, packaging equipment, PLCs, and various mixers

Help with the installation of 3 new production lines

Large focus on creating a preventative maintenance program

Focus on Lean manufacturing to help reduce equipment failures and conduct root cause analysis

Work with packaging equipment and robotics

Focus on waste reduction and efficiency

Requirements

BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred

10-15 years of manufacturing maintenance experience

5+ years of management experience leading multi-site maintenance teams

Experience setting up new lines or moving production lines

Expertise in PLC programming, blueprint reading, and VFFS/packaging equipment

Lean Six Sigma certification and HACCP experience preferred

Strong leadership, problem-solving, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
