Insight Global is looking for a Automation Process Engineer to work on site in La Vergne, Tennessee for a global fortune 500 technology manufacturing & design company that is building cloud computing technologies for the world's largest search engine, online retailer and social media companies and working in the computer and electronics manufacturing industry. The Automation Process Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end processes related to CCBU operation. The APE will develop processes and identify the equipment required to establish best in class manufacturing operation in parallel with defining routings, physical and systemic process flows. The Engineer will be responsible for the identification, evaluation, selection, procurement, and qualification of automated equipment utilized in the CCBU Operation.

The Automation Process Engineer will be responsible for improving the development, integration, and optimization of automated systems in our electronics assembly manufacturing operations. This role will focus on robotics, machine integration, and automation project management to improve efficiency, product quality, and process reliability. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in robotic assembly, automated material handling, precision fastening, testing, and equipment integration to support high-mix, high-volume production.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead the design, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting of robotic automation (Techman, Epson, Yaskawa, etc.), automated material handling, and assembly equipment.

• Collaborate with controls engineers to interface PLC, HMI, SCADA, and MES systems with automated equipment.

• Ensure seamless robotic system operation, reducing manual labor and increasing throughput.

• Manage the installation, validation, and optimization of automated assembly equipment.

• Develop and implement predictive and preventive maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.

• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementation to resolve production bottlenecks and improve system performance.

• Leads physical and systemic process improvement projects including the direction of project teams to support continuous process improvements. Includes but not limited to Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing implementation, DOE.

• Responsible for the setup and integration of automated equipment into the production processes.

• Responsible for evaluating current process and working to develop and implement process improvements on an on-going basis to ensure optimal efficiency and quality.

• Perform Cost Analysis & provide Cost Improvement ideas for production.

• Continuous Improvement – drive quality improvement, productivity improvement, scrap reduction, and other cost reduction efforts, through process improvement initiatives.

• Problem solving – investigate and recommend solutions for production, service and product related quality, manufacturing or process issues.

• Develop measures of process control

• Develop and implement Preventive Maintenance procedures

• Document production processes • Identify process capabilities and limitations and make Recommendations and implement process improvements.

• Investigate and quantify the manufacturability and serviceability of new and existing products.

• Work with product development engineers during and after product introduction to improve product performance.

• Troubleshoot and solve various manufacturing and service problems.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• 3 + years of experience as a Process or Project Engineer working within a manufacturing environment

3+ years of experience in automation engineering within a high-tech, electronics, or mechanical assembly manufacturing environment.

• Knowledge of robotic programming, PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), and vision systems (Cognex, Keyence).

• Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

Compensation:

$80,000 to $95,000 per year annual salary.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
