Position: Full Time Captain 30-50 hours a week Location: New York City - Chelsea Piers
Must have flexibility in schedule for day, night and weekend. Must be able to complete full charter season until December 1. Must be looking for a long-term position with a growing company.
Role Overview:
As the Captain at Big Apple Charters, you are the heartbeat of our maritime adventures. You'll operate two premier vessels—a Cruisers Yachts 38GLS with triple 300HP Merc OB and a 2020 Sea Ray 270 SDX bowrider with a single 300 HP Merc OB. Your paramount responsibility is the safety and enjoyment of passengers, crew, and our state-of-the-art charter boats. The vessels are meticulously kept.
Responsibilities:
Safely and efficiently navigate and operate vessels throughout NY Harbor.
Craft unforgettable guest experiences, setting the tone for a positive journey.
Uphold a professional appearance and demeanor, embodying our commitment to excellence.
Maintain precise cruise records, ensuring seamless charter operations.
Contribute to crew training and development, fostering a collaborative and skilled team.
Embrace a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and evenings. You must be able to have full flexibility during the season as last minute is frequent.
Oversee vessel repairs, coordinating with third-party maintenance when needed.
Uphold vessel cleanliness standards, assisting in the cleaning process.
Promptly report incidents and keep detailed daily passenger logs and waivers.
Promote safety and situational awareness, ensuring a secure and enjoyable voyage.
Requirements:
USCG Master 50T or greater (Mandatory).
Minimum 5 years of Marine Experience (Preferred).
At least 1 year of experience on NY Harbor (Preferred).
First Aid & CPR Certification.
Pre-employment and random drug testing in accordance with USCG regulations.
Infectiously friendly demeanor with exceptional customer service skills.
Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident per USCG requirements.
Ability to handle a fast-paced environment
Compensation:
Hourly rate: Average over $100 per hour with gratuities.
Additional compensation for extended charters.
Tip share with crewmate (100%)- unlike some, wo do not take any gratuities from crew
Commissions for repeat business and referrals.
