Trinnex is seeking an experienced Cybersecurity professional with extensive knowledge in the water and wastewater industry. This strategic role involves spearheading complex client engagements, architecting and executing tailored cybersecurity programs for critical infrastructure, and advising utilities on protecting their interconnected operational technology (OT), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, and information technology (IT) assets.

The ideal candidate will blend technical acumen with strategic advisory capabilities, offering thought leadership and hands-on guidance across cybersecurity governance, risk management, architecture, and compliance. This role is pivotal in helping clients navigate evolving cyber threats, meet regulatory mandates (e.g., EPA, CISA), and build long-term operational resilience.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and manage sophisticated cybersecurity consulting engagements for utility clients, advising executives, engineers, and operations teams on OT/IT cybersecurity strategies, audits, roadmaps, and implementation plans.

• Serve as a trusted advisor, translating utility business goals into actionable cybersecurity strategies and risk mitigation plans.

• Collaborate with diverse stakeholders from planning through execution, aligning cybersecurity initiatives with operational priorities, capital programs, risk appetite, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., EPA, AWWA, NIST CSF, CISA).

• Deliver clear, actionable insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences through reports, presentations, and workshops.

• Facilitate executive-level cybersecurity awareness sessions, board briefings, and incident response tabletop exercises.

• Design and implement cybersecurity frameworks, policies, and controls aligned with leading standards (e.g., NIST CSF, SP 800-82/53/30, ISA/IEC 62443, AWWA G430, EPA Cybersecurity Guidance and Requirements, CISA Cross-Sector Cybersecurity Performance Goals, ).

• Lead comprehensive assessments including maturity evaluations, risk analyses (e.g., AWWA J100), penetration testing, and architecture reviews across IT and OT environments.

• Oversee the deployment of secure architectures for SCADA, PLC, DCS, and related systems, including zoning/segmentation and secure remote access.

• Guide clients in developing incident response, business continuity, and disaster recovery strategies.

• Apply risk quantification methods to support informed executive decision-making.

• Contribute to the development of new cybersecurity offerings, digital solutions, and repeatable service packages tailored to emerging threats and technologies (e.g., IIoT, smart sensors).

• Represent Trinnex in the industry through white papers, conference presentations, and client training programs.

• Mentor junior staff and cultivate expertise in cybersecurity, IT/OT integration, and digital transformation.

• Enhance internal methodologies, QA/QC processes, and solution accelerators.

• Promote a culture of excellence, integrity, collaboration, and purpose-driven consulting within the digital practice.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.

• 8 years of related experience.

• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.

Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

• Advanced degree (Master’s/Ph.D.) preferred.

• Relevant certifications (e.g., GICSP, CISM, CRISC, ISA/IEC 62443, PMP).

• Experience with OT security tools for industrial environments.

• Background in public agency or regulated utility environments.

Skills and Abilities

• Extensive experience specializing in cybersecurity for Operational Technology (OT), SCADA, and IT systems within water and wastewater utility environments.

• Demonstrated expertise in applying NIST cybersecurity frameworks and industry standards such as ISA/IEC 62443 to enhance security posture in water/wastewater utility environments.

• Proven track record in designing, implementing, and evaluating secure OT network architectures, including advanced zoning/segmentation strategies and secure remote access solutions.

• Comprehensive background in conducting cyber risk and vulnerability assessments, supporting penetration testing initiatives, and developing and executing incident response plans tailored to OT/IT environments.

• Strong working knowledge of U.S. federal and state regulatory requirements affecting water utilities, including CISA advisories, EPA cybersecurity mandates, and AWWA cybersecurity guidance.

• Deep understanding of water and wastewater utility operations, capital planning cycles, SCADA system integration, and the unique cybersecurity challenges inherent to these sectors.

• Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.

• Collaborative team player with a history of building strong interdisciplinary relationships and contributing effectively to cross-functional initiatives.

• Strategic thinker with a demonstrated ability to develop forward-looking cybersecurity strategies and translate them into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.

Background Check and Drug Testing Information
