Job Description

The Ohio State Medical Center is committed to enhancing the quality of care provided to patients. The manager 1 - facilities operations functions to support the Medical Center's day-to-day operations with functional and financial management of associates assigned to building operations and maintenance.

The Manager 1 - Facilities Operations is responsible for all managerial functions for maintenance operations employees. This includes associates from the Mechanical Systems, Electric and Electronic Systems, Support Services, and/or Zone shops. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance, repairs and projects of the Medical Center facilities. This includes, but is not limited to electric, plumbing, medical gas, beds, fire alarms, material handling system, HVAC/R and general repair and upkeep of the building environment and life safety compartments. This position encompasses communication, coordination, and regulatory compliance for all assigned areas. This position is responsible for the supervision of all assigned personnel and for the operations and regulatory compliance of the assigned areas, designated systems, and equipment. The manager 1 - facilities operations is responsible for inspecting, assessing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating personnel performance. The manager 1 - facilities operations will prioritize personnel and shop activities related to the maintaining of the facilities grounds and buildings.

Areas and equipment are operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. May cover for other manager 1 - facilities operations due to absence and vacation, as necessary. The manager 1 - facilities operations will carry a pager (and/or phone) and is subject to call back. Responsibilities include actively promoting the Facilities IMAGE program as well as the Medical Center’s mission, vision and values in support of an absolute customer satisfaction.

Minimum Required Education

HS Graduate or Equivalent

Desired Qualifications

Experience in Healthcare facilities maintenance. Knowledge in general maintenance, plumbing, electric and HVAC/R. Communication Skills, both verbal and written. Knowledge of applicable codes and regulatory requirements.

Experience with PC based engineering and office applications. Experience with facilities computerized maintenance management systems and devices. Able to read and interpret blueprints. Valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
