Sidwell Friends, a coeducational Quaker day school, seeks a part-time archives summer intern to assist with the implementation of an archives collection management system. The School Archives are located on the Washington, DC campus. This position requires in-person work. Duties include:
Converting finding aids and inventories to a standards-based digital format,
Creating and updating archival descriptions and container labels,
Creating digital object records,
Entering accession records, and
Developing subject and authority records.
Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma required
Completed undergraduate degree not required, but college-level coursework in archives and/or library science highly desired
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to learn new technology are essential
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in archival work and/or historical research
Hourly rate: $17.95
Supervisor: Lori Ito Hardenbergh, School Archivist
Hours: 20 hours/week between June 15 - August 15; specific work dates and hours negotiable
