BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:
The position of Band Weld Operator includes welding and fabrication according to dimensional requirements, as well as other general warehouse functions.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Welding Bandsaw Blades
Selects correct coil stock from work order.
Matches tooth gullet and cuts to proper length.
Sets the welder to the proper specifications, welds and anneals the blade using Lenox / Ideal band welding machines.
Grinds the flash from the blade within specified tolerance.
Grit blasts the weld portion of the blade.
Coils blade and matches paperwork with identification tag.
Performs preventive maintenance on welding equipment.
Maintains and keeps work area clean.
Trouble shoots & repairs welding equipment as necessary.
Ensure that all supplies needed for welding department are stocked and available.
Picks items from racks and carts.
Audits packages for accuracy.
Packs items using specifications.
Utilizes UPS WorldShip and FedEx for small package shipments
Prepares Bills of Lading for truck shipments.
Loads trucks for shipment.
Processes customer returns.
Ensure that all supplies needed for shipping department are stocked and available
Unloads trucks.
Matches packing slips to P.O. using descriptions, vendor numbers, MSC item numbers and quantity.
Scans packing slips or manually receives packing slips into warehouse computer system.
Performs research to resolve item or purchase order discrepancies.
Puts away product into racks, bins or overstock.
Verifies products using item numbers, descriptions, and quantity
Building Maintenance
Assists in all housekeeping duties inside and outside facility to maintain a safe, clean workplace.
Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure unity of purpose and fulfillment of MSC's mission.
Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or the equivalent required.
Shop experience a plus.
Ability to read rulers, calipers, and micrometers a plus.
SKILLS:
Must learn welding duties and responsibilities within specified time requirements.
Must adhere to all Safety protocols.
Excellent organizational & time management skills required.
Good communication skills required.
High sense of urgency required.
Ability to perform at highly accurate level in fast paced, time sensitive environment with competing demands and changing priorities, required.
Ability to work in a Team environment, required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bending to lift items from the floor and racks required.
Lifting items up to 90 pounds required.
Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Submit successful quarterly weld samples to Lenox to maintain Certified Weld Center Status
Telework
Compensation starting at $22hr - $25hr depending on experience.
The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
