Responsibilities:
• Support various launch vehicle programs by performing structural analysis including detailed hand calculations and linear and non-linear Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
• Present results to management and customer base while documenting detailed analysis reports for release.
• Identify and troubleshoot structural issues during preliminary/conceptual design and parallel to manufacturing. • Communicate project status to direct manager and the Integration and Test (I&T) IPT Lead. Keep daily task organized and up to date.
• Collaborate with other functional engineers on the team to share insight on any structural issues and to maintain program schedule.
Design, develop, and implement testing methods for metallic and composite material testing.
• Help to define structural design changes required in high temperature applications. Basic Qualifications for Structural Engineer 3:
• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 10-14 years of experience, a Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline • Working knowledge in one of the following software: Femap, NASTRAN, NASGRO, Abaqus, MathCAD, NX, Teamcenter
• Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Demonstrated ability to use fundamental structural methods. • Experience in designing/analyzing Ground Support Equipment (GSE)
• This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen.
• Active Secret security clearance Preferred Qualifications for Structural Engineer 3:
• A Master's degree in a STEM discipline or a PhD in a STEM discipline with 8-10 years of experience.
• Working knowledge of high temperature materials and testing for hypersonic applications
• Working knowledge of structural analysis for composites including carbon and ceramic materials
• Familiarity with fatigue and fracture mechanics. Fracture Control Plans.
