Bachelor’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two [2] years of full-time administrative experience. Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Apps, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Three [3] or more years of full-time administrative experience. Experience in a higher education academic setting, which may include recruitment, admissions, and/or advising experience. Experience with social media communications. Experience working with one, preferably more than one, of the following systems: Slate (or similar CRM system), PeopleSoft, Degreeworks, Brightspace, Nolijweb/OnBase, Wolfmart, SBU Reporting/, SOLAR, AccessVIS, 25Live, etc. Experience conducting training or delivering presentations. Experience with outreach activities, in-person and online, including event planning.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Master’s Recruitment and Admissions Advisor (RAA) is an integral member of the CAS Dean’s Office Academic Affairs team. They will work closely with prospective graduate students who are interested in CAS graduate degree programs and support them through the application and admissions process. The RAA will work closely with the Graduate School, and Directors of CAS master’s programs.
The RAA role is a dynamic combination of admissions advising, program support, and recruitment project management that will help support the College’s strategic growth. The primary focus will be on increasing master’s program applications and improving yield. The successful incumbent will have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. They will be a self-starter who can think creatively and exercise strong organizational and time-management skills. They should be comfortable interacting with individuals at various levels within an institution, external organizations, and the general public whenever necessary. Essential for this role is the ability to work independently and as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving. Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Duties:
Recruitment Coordination:
Responsible for coordinating all recruitment matters for master’s programs. As the primary liaison between prospective master’s students, serve as the point person and information source for university and departmental policies and procedures relevant to the admissions process.
Admissions Workshops/Advising:
Advise prospective students in individual and group settings on the admissions requirements for the master’s programs.
Act as liaison between prospective students and program directors/faculty.
Collaborate with other graduate and undergraduate recruiters in a supportive and mutually beneficial system to align recruitment initiatives and student resources.
Collaborate with undergraduate program directors to recruit for BA + MA/MS programs.
Organize and participate in on-campus and virtual recruitment events to attract prospective students and make connections for faculty and staff with access to a critical mass of prospective students. This includes but is not limited to information sessions, student tours, open houses, and admissions presentations.
Communication & Outreach:
Assist with all activities related to attracting prospective master’s students.
Work in conjunction with the CAS departments and the Graduate School to plan recruitment campaigns, new materials, and methods to advertise and promote the programs. Utilize the CRM system (Slate) to create a communication plan.
Collaborate with communications and marketing on digital and print materials.
Follow up with appropriate external groups (private companies, government agencies, advisory boards, professional organizations, alumni, etc.) to advertise master’s programs.
This position will be expected to learn and utilize the application processing system to communicate with students and faculty and guide potential candidates on application submission, timelines, and requirements.
Employ social media and other outlets to create a meaningful online presence, communicate with prospective students systematically, and advertise exciting opportunities on campus.
Admissions Support:
Work closely with the master’s program directors, and the Graduate School, to improve the admissions processes for prospective applicants. Provide administrative support to the master’s program directors.
Admissions:
Coordinate the admissions process and timelines for the master’s programs, including deadlines, applications, and petitions.
Coordinate application reviews and communicate regularly with program directors to ensure processes are efficiently managed.
Track applicant materials and identify missing materials. Provide direct outreach to applicants and regular contact throughout the admissions process.
Records and Reports:
Provide reports and statistics to support program recruitment decisions.
Collect and compile program recruitment assessment information.
Track and maintain records of prospective student inquiries.
Undergraduate Recruitment Support:
Assist with organizing undergraduate recruitment events such as Admitted Seawolves Days and Preview Days.
Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
