Job Summary

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL (INSTRUCTIONAL GRADES 7-12) - VACANCY NOTICE & JOB DESCRIPTION

CATEGORY: Administrative

CONTRACT PERIOD: 12 month/236 days for the 2025-2026 School Year

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant should have at least 3 years of successful experience in teaching and/or school administration (preferred), a Master's Degree or higher, certification in administration, curriculum and elementary/secondary education, and physical mobility and visual acuity to visit schools and work sites

SALARY SCHEDULE: Salary will be paid based on the approved state minimum salary schedule - classroom teachers 187 Contract Days as approved by the Board AND Principal/Assistant Principal Supplement Schedule (Click HERE to view Salary Schedule.)

POSITION TITLE: Assistant Principal (Instructional Grades 7-12)

QUALIFICATIONS:

At least 3 years of successful experience in teaching and/or school Administration preferred.

A master's degree or higher.

Certification in Administration, Curriculum and Elementary/Secondary Education.

Physical mobility and visual acuity to visit schools and work sites.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate REPORTS TO: Principal, Assistant Superintendent, Curriculum & Instruction Specialist, and/or Superintendent or his designee

JOB GOAL: To assist principal in: a) providing effective leadership, instruction, and supervision; b) developing, achieving, and maintaining the best possible education programs and services; c) acquiring and maintaining an academic excellence status through the District vision.

SUPERVISES: Such staff members as the superintendent may designate.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provides leadership at the school level for the purpose of improving instruction among teachers.

Observes, monitors, and reacts clinically to classroom instruction.

Develops and/or disseminates appropriate instructional materials based on specified teacher needs.

Communicates with school and program administrators regarding teacher and programmatic needs and progress.

Coordinates with school and district administrators to effectively support teacher improvement in instruction in the classroom.

Participates in coaching cycles with instructional partners to promote effective instructional strategies.

Participates in coaching cycles with school administrators and instructional coaches to promote effective instructional partnership in schools

Displays effective interpersonal skills, and maintains collegial relationships with teachers, administrators, and instructional partners in order to most impact instructional practices.

Provides leadership in the development and implementation of School Improvement and Title I Plans, etc. at the school level.

Assists in the development and implementation of summer professional learning opportunities.

Assists and supervises in the development and implementation of 7-12 grade summer school and credit recovery programs.

Communicates and collaborates with direct supervisor and assistant superintendent concerning applications needed to enhance classroom instruction.

Assists in the development and continued implementation and improvement of benchmark assessments.

Provides leadership in facilitating organizational goals through the implementation of comprehensive curriculum and instructional programs.

Aligns curriculum and instructional programs based to meet and exceed state standards and through data-disaggregation to ensure greater student success.

Provides assistance in determining the types of programs needed by schools and make appropriate recommendations to address the needs of student, faculty, and staff.

Willingness to participate in professional development opportunities to increase competencies in instruction, curriculum, technology integration, etc., to effectively fulfill duties.

Coordinates the Response to Intervention process and the PST team for 7-12 grade and assists in ensuring that students receive appropriate placement services.

Displays effective interpersonal skills, and maintains collegial relationships with teachers, administrators, and instructional partners in order to most impact instructional practices.

Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential problems or opportunities for improvement and take appropriate actions.

Assists in providing ongoing mentoring and support to classroom teachers and school administrators in areas of curriculum, instruction and assessment.

Complies with the federal and state laws and local Board policies.

Communicates effectively, orally and in writing, with a variety of individuals and groups.

Demonstrates professional ethics in carrying out the mission of the systems' instructional program.

Represents the school system in a positive and professional manner.

Prepares and oversees the preparation of all reports and maintain appropriate records for areas of responsibility.

Assists in implementing the system's strategic vision.

May be required to work beyond the 40-hour work week.

Willingness to complete other duties as assigned

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months/236 days.

SALARY: Salary to be determined by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
