FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2025-2026

GUIDANCE COUNSELOR - ELEMENTARY

NINTH DISTRICT ELEMENTARY

QUALIFICATIONS:

Hold a valid Kentucky certificate appropriate for elementary guidance.

Have a minimum of two years of successful experience working in schools.

Have proven ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty and administrators.

Have experience in test administration and interpretation.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Building Principal/Assistant Superintendent Student Support

SUPERVISES: Not Applicable

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide individual and group counseling focused on student academic and behavioral success.

Conduct classroom programs aimed at preventing drug use and violence and promoting positive mental health.

Consult with school staff and parents regarding student progress toward academic and behavioral success.

Maintain knowledge of school district and community resources in order to make appropriate referrals for services.

Serve on school problem-solving committees (Teacher Assistance Teams, Student Support Teams, etc.) and Admission and Release Committee, as appropriate.

Provide support for parent involvement initiatives at the school.

Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills.

JOB GOAL:

To promote student academic and behavioral success by providing counseling, conducting prevention programs, consulting with school staff and parents and making referrals to appropriate school district and community services.

CONTRACT: 195 Days

SALARY: Based on rank and experience plus 1.15 index
