POSITION:
Livonia Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified Computer Technology teacher for Secondary Education who will be able to develop and sustain academic-focused instruction for his/her students. The teacher will identify and implement best practices in instruction and student achievement. The teacher will motivate each student to acquire knowledge in computer technology and robotics.
DISTRICT OVERVIEW:
Livonia Public Schools employs approximately 1,800 staff members, serving approximately 13,200 students pre-K - post secondary. There are 15 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools, 1 career technical center, 1 early childhood center and 1 vocational and transition center in the School District. The annual budget for Livonia Public Schools is $176 million, with a state funding of $9,600 per pupil.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The following is a list of minimum qualifications for this position, any one of which may be waived by the Superintendent in exercising the prerogative to determine appropriate qualifications.?
Minimum of a bachelor's degree
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
A major in the subject area is preferred
Instructional knowledge of basic computer applications including MS Office, Google, and Lego Robotics
A passionate commitment to improving learning for all students
Demonstrated positive interpersonal relationships
Skills in individualizing instruction
Evidence of ability to establish positive working relationships with all stakeholders
Superior verbal and written communication skills MAJOR FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create a welcoming and positive classroom climate and culture.

Teach skills and knowledge in computer technology and robotics.
Develop a balanced instructional program incorporating demonstrations, lectures, and discussions; organize class activities for optimal learning.
Adapt curricular materials and instructional methods to develop engaging, relevant, sequential lessons and assignments that guide and challenge students.
Seek instructional technology resources and applications to enhance the students' educational experience and grow professionally.
Provide students with real-world application of technology in the areas of personal and business finance and development.
Provide individual and small group instruction to adapt curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual abilities, attitudes, and cultural backgrounds.
Integrate school improvement goals into classroom instruction.
Maintain student classroom records using current online record keeping platform.
Communicate with parents, students, and school counselors through conferences and other means to discuss curriculum, assessments, and student progress.
Encourage students to think independently and to express original ideas.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide a safe and productive classroom environment.
Identify student needs and work collaboratively with other professional staff members in assessing and assisting students and developing curriculum with the ITSE standards.
Administer and monitor student assessments.
Execute other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by building administrator.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The work year, salary, and fringe benefits will be consistent with the current agreement between the Board of Education and the Livonia Education Association. This position will remain open until filled.
