Electrical Engineer - Substation Protection & Control
Location: Orlando, FL
A growing engineering firm is seeking a mid-level Electrical Engineer to join its Substation Engineering team. This role focuses on protection and control (P&C) design for high-voltage substations and renewable energy interconnection projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Design substation P&C systems (4kV-230kV+), including:
One-line and three-line diagrams
Control, alarm, and communication schematics
Wiring diagrams and I/O mapping
Protection and control specifications (preferred)
Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to meet project goals
Support procurement, construction, and technical documentation
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., transmission, telecom)
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
4+ years of experience in high-voltage substation P&C design
EIT certification
Proficient in AutoCAD or MicroStation
Familiar with NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards
Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail
