Parks & Garden Foreman

Job Description

I. Job Purpose/Summary:

To assist the Parks and Gardens Manager and the Parks and Gardens Supervisor in managing, coordinating and supervising the activities of workers responsible for maintaining the City’s parks, grounds, streets, parking lots, public garden, city entrances and community spaces.

II. Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Provides supervision and guidance to workers, reviews and evaluates work activity plans to ensure objectives are met.

Manages and maintains all city irrigation systems

Develops weekly work schedules and task assignments for groundskeeping crews.

Estimates and develops projections for major maintenance needs.

Oversees the beautification and chemical treatment of lawns and plants.

Supervises work crews engaged in routine maintenance and minor repair of grounds and structures. Oversees the maintenance of

local ball parks.

· Conducts regular inspections of all City maintained parks to verify proper level of care is being given

· Purchases chemicals and minor equipment and materials for buildings and grounds repair and maintenance.

· Conducts safety meetings and training as necessary to ensure employees have information necessary to safety and efficiently complete their duties

· Monitors crews to ensure work is meeting the public’s needs. Responds to citizen complaints and comments.

· Prepares regular and special reports and processes purchase orders, pay applications and employee time sheets as necessary

· Maintains Parks and Gardens equipment inventory

· Coordinates equipment maintenance and repair with the City Vehicle maintenance shop

· Coordinates logistics for city wide special events.

· Performs exceptional service to internal and external customers.

· Performs related duties as required.

Full-time
