AWS Cloud Engineer
Position Overview
We are looking for a cloud infrastructure specialist to support development and operational activities within a virtual hosting environment, specifically leveraging services available through a major commercial cloud provider (AWS). This individual will play a key role in deploying, securing, and maintaining scalable systems across various mission domains.
This position is 60% remote. 1 day onsite in St. Louis, MO and 1 day onsite in O'Fallon, IL.
Key Duties
• Collaborate on the design and continuous improvement of secure cloud environments, primarily using AWS services
• Evaluate system architecture to ensure compliance with security and operational standards
• Analyze and improve cloud configurations, including network setups, service integrations, and resource utilization
• Support internal engineering governance through architectural reviews and documentation contributions
• Troubleshoot infrastructure-related issues and assist in root cause analysis
• Support near-continuous uptime requirements through resilient design and proactive monitoring
• Oversee data migration and storage optimization efforts using AWS-native tools and services
• Validate technical updates and assist in conducting full lifecycle system testing
Required Experience & Skills
• 5+ years of experience delivering technical solutions, including at least 3 years focused on cloud technologies (AWS)
• Familiarity with a range of AWS services such as compute, storage, and automation tools
• Working knowledge of configuration management, CI/CD pipelines, and scripting for infrastructure
• Exposure to tools like Jenkins, Jira, GitLab, Terraform, and Confluence
• Hands-on administration of both Linux and Windows environments
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal formats
• Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance, with eligibility for additional adjudication
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
Preferred Background
• Experience supporting NGA systems
• AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, Developer)
• Familiarity with secure cloud frameworks and privileged account environments
• Understanding of Agile development and secure DevOps practices
• Knowledge of aeronautical or geospatial data systems and related compliance documentation
