Purpose:As a member of the End User Technology Desktop Engineering Team at Athene, you will be responsible for the administration and delivery of a modern, secure, and efficient desktop environment. This includes—but is not limited to—automated desktop builds, monthly patching, application packaging and deployment through Microsoft Intune, and Tier 3 desktop troubleshooting. You will also contribute to medium-to-large-scale projects that impact the entire organization.

In this System Engineer role, you will provide technical leadership and strategic direction for the desktop technologies under your responsibility. A strong background in automation and enterprise desktop management is essential.

We are seeking a candidate with hands-on experience in the automated building and maintenance of corporate desktops. Key responsibilities include:

* Deployment and management of Windows patches and third-party software updates.

* Application packaging and deployment using Microsoft Intune.

* Maintenance and improvement of the Windows automated build process for end-user devices.

* Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to Windows 10/11 desktops.

* Supporting and managing Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments, including application deployment and performance optimization.

* Documenting technical processes and contributing to continuous process improvement initiatives.

Accountabilities:

Design and implement new solutions for desktop automation including desktop build, application packaging and deployment, patching, and virtual desktop management

Manage and implement monthly and immediate (zero-day) patches for corporate end user devices running Windows Desktop 10/11 using Microsoft Autopatch well as vendor-based patching mechanisms. This will include the documenting process and assessing process for continuous improvement

Application packaging and deployment automation to Windows 10/11 desktops.

Automated deployment/implementation of various vendor software to desktops.

Documenting processes and assuring continuous review of processes for maintenance and process improvement.

Azure Virtual Desktop management to deploy, automate, maintain, and troubleshoot issues.

Work with Autopilot build and imaging process of corporate end user devices specifically for Windows 10/11 desktops.

Work in ticketing system to manage issues and report solutions.

General troubleshooting of issues with Windows 10/11 desktop deployments and level 3 incidents that may occur from time to time. May require contacting and working with Microsoft or other vendor support.

Additional experience in Entra, MDM and Active Directory Group Policy utilization a plus.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience

Minimum of 4 years of hands-on IT experience in a desktop engineering or systems administration role

Proven expertise in the following areas:

Microsoft Intune for device and application management

Windows desktop patch deployment and management (including Autopatch)

Win32App packaging and deployment

Autopilot for automated device provisioning

Troubleshooting hardware and software issues on laptops and desktops

Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) is highly desirable

Industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft, CompTIA) are a plus

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
