Job Description
Move partial and/or fully staged orders from stores or floor area in Department to work area as directed by Supervisor. Check, set and assemble miscellaneous accessories such as present P.B.S.S.C., large number counters with ticket printer, and with micro switch, transmitters, pro-tech systems, faucets, set stop valves, P.E.X., E type transmitters, tachometers, etc. Tag meters, accessories, etc. Perform clerical requirements per shop procedures and/or Supervisor’s instructions. Spray paint assembled meters, deaerators, valves and accessories.
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is responsible for
Assemble all accessories to meters as indicated by log card, customer order and blueprints.
Cut thread and bend rods (hack saw, vise, hand dies).
Change gears in meters and/or build and change gear plates as required.
Build and set various types of P.B.S.S.C. and counters with accessories.
Change O-ring and/or covers, R.B. heads, A.R.H. on strainers.
Make and stamp various types of tags for meters, strainers and deaerators.
Build various types of accessories from B/P and/or instructions.
Positions parts in spray booth by hand, hoist or lift truck.
Applies masking to surfaces to be protected.
Sprays units as specified.
Keep area in order, move material as required and clean equipment as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Parts may be handled by hand, jitney or hoist.
Large parts are often assembled on the floor.
Wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, hack saw, threading dies, drift pins, impact wrenches and spray guns are used to perform assigned work.
May perform clerical duties, replenish stock bins and draw parts from stockroom as directed by Supervisor.
Must use appropriate protective equipment as required.
Sprayer fills and mixes paint in motorized pressure tank.
Cleans guns and equipment as required.
Occasionally works away from paint filters because of assembly or part configuration and is exposed to overspray.
Protective spray mask must be worn.
Must operate jitney at times to move large assemblies.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Spends 95% of the time in a manufacturing/shop environment and 5% in an office environment. Will be exposed to possible hazards including working with high-pressure equipment, working in confined spaces, high noise, inclement weather, chemicals, pressure testing, heavy lift operations and shop/field traffic.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Frequent walking, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing upward, crawling in confined workspaces and lifting daily.
