Business Developer - Key Accounts & Economic Development

We’re looking for dynamic and driven Business Developers to help us grow our member base and lead innovative energy service initiatives by building meaningful relationships with our key commercial and industrial members, developers, and economic partners.

What You’ll Do
Build and strengthen relationships with Key Accounts, economic development agencies, and local officials
Identify new business opportunities and lead efforts to expand EnergyUnited’s energy services and territory
Track municipal activity, monitor market intelligence, and position EnergyUnited competitively in the C&I space
Represent EnergyUnited in economic development initiatives and utility service negotiations
Design rate proposals and strategic plans to attract and retain major business members
Develop business plans for non-electric utility services and support growth initiatives within EnergyUnited Services
Monitor satisfaction and performance metrics, ensuring we stay aligned with member needs and future energy trends
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred)
5+ years’ experience in business development, economic development, sales, or planning with strong results in external stakeholder engagement
Knowledge of rate design, financial modeling, municipal law, and strategic planning
Proven ability to analyze complex information, negotiate effectively, and represent the company in high-level discussions
Excellent communication, organization, and relationship-building skills
Strong Microsoft Office and presentation software skills
Valid NC Driver’s License and the ability to travel as needed
Work Environment
Hybrid work arrangement: split between the office and work from home
Travel throughout our service area for meetings and site visits
Must reside within our 19-county service territory or within 40 road miles of an EnergyUnited office
