Job Summary:

The Systems Engineer is responsible for the provisioning, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and infrastructure in support of Oracle and/or SQL Server environments. This key role ensures compliance with security and regulatory standards, supports innovation through R&D, and provides documentation and communication across technical and project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Install, configure, and maintain Oracle and/or SQL Server database environments across Windows Server and HP-UX platforms

Manage and optimize database performance, storage, and system resources to ensure high availability and reliability

Perform routine database backups, recovery operations, and disaster recovery planning

Develop and maintain database scripts, PL/SQL or T-SQL code, and stored procedures

Conduct systems analysis to identify and resolve technical issues, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement infrastructure improvements and enhancements

Ensure compliance with DoD security standards and organizational policies, including patch management and access controls

Document system configurations, technical procedures, test results, and change management activities

Participate in technical research and development efforts to drive infrastructure modernization and innovation

Provide technical support and guidance during system migrations, upgrades, and deployment efforts

Communicate project objectives, technical designs, and status updates to stakeholders and team members

Serve as a key contributor to the proposal, design, and implementation phases of mission-critical systems initiativesSkills Required:

Must possess an IT-I Critical Sensitive clearance or Tier 5

DoD 8570 IAT Level II compliant certification (e.g., Security+, CCNA Security, CySA+)

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in systems engineering or a related technical field

5 years of hands-on experience supporting Oracle and/or SQL Server database environments

Expertise in one or both of the following database platforms:

Oracle: Experience with Oracle Database 11g, PL/SQL, Oracle stored procedures, performance tuning, E-R database design, backup/recovery, and HP-UX 11.3.x

SQL Server: Experience with SQL Server 2012, T-SQL, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and Windows Server 2016

Strong knowledge of operating systems: Windows Server 2016 and HP-UX 11.3.x

Understanding of database security practices, system documentation standards, and systems analysis

Industry-recognized technical certification (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting systems and collaborating with cross-functional teams
