We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Inpatient Medical Coder to join our Health Information Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately assigning ICD-10-CM/PCS diagnosis and procedure codes for inpatient medical records to ensure proper reimbursement, compliance, and data integrity.
+ Review and analyze inpatient medical records to assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes.
+ Abstract and enter patient data into the electronic health record (EHR) system.
+ Ensure coding compliance with federal regulations, hospital policies, and official coding guidelines.
+ Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, and other HIM team members to clarify documentation.
+ Monitor and respond to coding queries and audits in a timely manner.
+ Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
+ Participate in continuing education and training sessions to support coding accuracy and compliance.
Qualifications
Required:
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Certification: CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) or RHIT/RHIA with inpatient coding experience.
+ Minimum of 2 years’ experience in inpatient coding in an acute care hospital setting.
+ Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems.
+ Proficiency with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) and coding software (e.g., 3M, Optum).
Preferred:
+ Experience with DRG assignment and Medicare/Medicaid regulations.
+ Familiarity with quality and reimbursement initiatives (e.g., MS-DRGs, APR-DRGs).
Candidates MUST RESIDE in AR, FL, GA, MO, NC, OK, TX or VA.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Special Certification: RHIT, RHIA, CCS, AHIMA or AAPC "Needs 1 of these"

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $48.00/hr.
