Accounting Associate

Position Status: Part-time

Classification: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY

The Accounting Associate – Purchasing/Payroll position contributes to the Victory Accounting department by ensuring accurate and efficient handling of transactions involving purchasing. This position maintains financial integrity and provides excellent customer service. The Accounting Associate – Purchasing/Payroll is also responsible for assisting in various functions of the accounting office including assisting with payroll processing, performing general ledger account and bank reconciliations, preparing journal entries, and financial statements and creating and maintaining periodic reporting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Administer online purchasing systems.

Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.

Utilizes accounting system, billing systems and spreadsheets.

Performs various complex account analyses and reconciliations.

Assists with the month-end closing process, conducting research and making correction journal entries for account discrepancies, prepares closing journal entries, posts accrual entries, and prepares financial statements.

Prepares documentation for external auditors.

Provides excellent customer service and ensures positive and professional interactions with other departments.

Assists with Payroll processing and auditing.

Assists with credit card reconciliations as needed.

Assists fellow employees in implementation of purchasing policies and procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or economics preferred

2 years of experience in accounting or related field

Must be proficient with computers and administrative process management

Native English speaker (or) the capacity to successfully pass a TOEFL Exam with instructional proficiency

Good communication, problem solving, and priority setting skills as well as maintaining an overall positive and professional attitude /disposition

Ability to effectively plan, organize and implement processes, systems and activities

Ability to handle multiple projects effectively

Proficiency in Word and Excel

Experience in operating an accounting 10-key calculator
