About the Role:

On behalf of the Camden City School District, UTRS is seeking an experienced Cyber and Network Security Engineer to manage and secure the district's network infrastructure. This role requires a technical expert who can ensure the stability, security, and efficiency of the network, implement cybersecurity measures, monitor network security, and respond to security incidents to protect the district's data and systems.

What will you be doing?

Network Management:

Manage all communications network equipment and related network connectivity.

Provide support for the Network Operations Center (NOC), including Wide Area Network (WAN) services, Local Area Network (LAN) services, Virtual Private Network (VPN) services, and Quality of Service.

Monitor network performance to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability.

Conduct network traffic analysis and reporting to identify and resolve issues proactively.

Work closely with a SOC provider to address and mitigate risks at the network, server, and endpoint/user levels.

Security Operations:

Implement and manage security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and vulnerability scanning.

Ensure compliance with Camden City School District policies, guiding principles, standards, and regulatory requirements for information systems, personnel, physical, and technical security.

Manage access control systems, including role-based access control (RBAC), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and privileged access management (PAM).

Incident Response:

Respond to security incidents, including data breaches, malware infections, and other cyber threats.

Conduct forensic analysis to determine the root cause of security incidents and implement measures to prevent future occurrences.

Configuration and Maintenance:

Maintain and update network configurations to ensure they meet the district's technical requirements and standards.

Implement changes to the network infrastructure as needed to support new technologies and features.

Inventory Management:

Track all networking and peripheral equipment supporting the network.

Create and maintain an inventory database that includes end-of-life (EOL) status, warranty, manufacturer, model number, and other relevant information for all networking and peripheral equipment.

Provide electronic access to Camden City School District inventory data for review by authorized personnel.

Advise and oversee technology purchases.

Security Awareness Training:

Develop and deliver security awareness training programs for staff and students to promote best practices in cybersecurity.

Ensure that all personnel are aware of and adhere to the district's security policies and procedures.

What skills will the ideal candidate have to be successful?

This position will require the following skillsets and experience:

Experience:

5+ years of experience in network engineering and cybersecurity, preferably within an educational or public sector environment.

Knowledge Areas:

Network topologies, engineering, and security best practices.

Cybersecurity frameworks and compliance (e.g., NIST 800-53, CMMC, FISMA, FedRAMP).

Performance monitoring and network traffic analysis.

Configuration management and change management.

Incident response and forensic analysis.

Access control systems, including RBAC, MFA, and PAM.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field or relevant experience.

Relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Barracuda Managed Service Provider (MSP) Partner, or Avigilon Unity 7/8 Certified are preferred.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Additional Information:

The Cyber and Network Security Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of the Camden City School District's network infrastructure to support educational and operational needs.

The role involves proactive monitoring, maintenance, and support of the network to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency.

Applicants must be able to provide scheduled on-site support at various Camden School District schools and administrative facilities in the city.
