Job Title: Controller/CFO

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and hands on dynamic Controller / CFO to work on site in our Maple Grove location to lead financial operations across our business units and support long term strategic planning. The Controller/CFO will be responsible for daily financial management and developing long-term financial strategies. This is an in-person leadership role and requires someone who is comfortable in the details of accounting and reporting while also contributing to big picture decision making.

The Controller/CFO will collaborate closely with ownership and divisional leaders to ensure accurate financial reporting, operational efficiency, risk management, and strategic growth across all business units.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:Include but not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Manage all accounting and finance functions, including general ledger, job costing, accounts payable and receivable, risk/insurance, payroll, human resources, employee benefits and monthly closings.

Lead mentor and develop the finance and accounting team fostering collaboration and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Prepare and analyze timely and accurate consolidated and divisional financial reports.

Oversee cash flow management, banking relationships, bonding, and insurance.

Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and other federal and state regulations, as well as financial policies, procedures, and internal controls across business units.

Collaborate with divisional leaders to support financial planning, project analysis, and profitability.

Develop relationships with employees as well as external partners and advisors.

Lead job cost budget reviews, work-in-progress (WIP) calculations and job reporting, conduct job profitability analysis, and provide financial insights to project managers.

Implement system and process improvements while optimizing accounting systems throughout the company.

Provide strategic financial input to ownership, including growth planning, technology upgrades, and potential acquisitions.

Supervise and mentor accounting and finance staff across multiple divisions.

Position Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA is strongly preferred).

10+ years of senior financial leadership experience in the construction industry.

Experience managing accounting and finance for multi-divisional or multi-entity companies.

Deep understanding of construction accounting, job costing, WIP schedules, revenue recognition, and billing structures.

Strong leadership, analytical skills and be able to communicate with people at all levels from various backgrounds.

Proficiency with construction accounting software (Trimble Spectrum is preferred).

Ability to work on-site fulltime at our Maple Grove facility.

Must pass a background check and possess a valid drivers license.

Advanced skills in written and verbal communication, customer service, and relationship building.

High-level organizational skills.

Strong multi-tasking abilities.

Flexibility and a willingness to adapt to change.

Capacity to work effectively with others, both internally and externally, even in stressful situations.

Proficiency in standard office software programs, such as MS Office 365.

Ability to operate effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
