Salary:
Position: Full-time hourly working under a collective bargaining agreement atthe National Training Center (NTC), Fort Irwin, California.
Responsibilities:Support Observer Controller (OC) team with situational awareness, doctrinalprinciples, and tactical knowledge; operate Mission Command Systems to create,consolidate, edit, and print products. Observes and analyzes in real timeand from stored exercise data the events that occur during simulated combatoperations, makes judgments concerning the adequacy and soundness of tacticalcommand, control, and maneuver. Ensures combat systems are correctlyreplicated, instrumented and portrayed. Collects battle data to providesituational awareness to the Observer Controllers and to support AAR process.Provides battle and safety control. Provides the senior headquarters forthe BLUFOR indirect fires units, OPFOR fires units, targeting units (radar),maneuver brigade or battalion, provides technical and tactical expertise forscenario development to include development, updating and briefing thescenario. Provides control to BLUFOR / OPFOR fires and IED weapons effectsemplacement as required. Provide technical assistance for the Multi-Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES) and Instrumentation checks,boresight operations (BSO), and installation. Control fire support asset(s),analyze operations orders, graphics, support plans, and pre-battle briefings.Process fire missions and targeting through computer, and perform assessmentand analysis of fire missions. Keep the TAFF leaders apprised of all aspectsof fire missions. Use radio system to communicate with units and field OCs.Produce and reproduce overlays and perform graphics and data input intocomputer systems. Complete TAFF Certification process within 120 days of hireor as scheduled for re-certification. Ability to learn current NTC-ISoperational software and hardware systems. Exercise staff supervision ofDIVARTY fire support rehearsals and tactical fire control procedures. Managethe operation of the DIVARTY Counter-fire section. Manage radar employment /counter-fire plan. Manage the replication ofOPFOR radar. Control field technicians, cross-trains on artillery tacticalsystems in the DIVARTY Cell. Supportquality/ISO, security, safety and training programs. Produce After-ActionReview (AAR) and Take-Home Package (THP) products as required. In response to computer output instructions on error conditions, devises a course of action from among several alternatives and alters or deviates from standard procedures if standard procedures do not provide a solution (e.g. reassigning equipment in order to work around faulty equipment or transfer channels); then refers problems if necessary. Refers problems which are not resolved. Will adhere to NTC, Operations Group, company, SiteManager, directives, memoranda, policies and procedures. May perform otherassigned duties as directed to meet customer requirements.
Education:High School Diploma or equivalentis required.
Experience:A minimum of 4 years military experience is desired.
Specific Knowledge: Experience at NTC as an observer controller with a working knowledge of computer network systems and data processing, NTC-IS, Microsoft Office Applications, Windows Operating Systems, Command Post of the Future (CPOF), and Distributed Common Ground Systems (DCGS-A) is desired.
Communication Skills: Applicant must demonstrate a solid command (both written and oral) of the English language. Must have excellent verbal communication skills for interfacing with military and civilian personnel.
Special Requirements: Must have a valid California drivers license and maintain Post driving privileges. Obtain Military licenses & Night Vision certification if required. Travel off road in company 4x4 vehicles and military tactical vehicles if required. Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs. and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) to utilize government operating systems. Must be a U. S. citizen, and be able to obtain andmaintain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance.
Working Environment: Primarily an office environment, applicants will occasionally be required to work outdoors in a desert environment. Frequent exposure to dust, desert pollen, extreme heat and cold associated with desert and natural conditions existing on Fort Irwin. Must be able to perform duties and travel in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, and wind) and at height (helicopter travel, mountain tops, elevated walk areas and towers). Applicants must be willing to work any shift to include weekends, overtime and holidays. Travel may be required.
