Job Summary
We are looking to hire a highly motivated Senior Defensive Immigration Paralegal to join our team. We are a full-service immigration firm, and we represent clients before immigration offices and courts throughout the country and consular posts throughout the world. Senior Immigration Paralegals work on a variety of cases, interview clients, manage our client database, provide interpretation support, complete applications, research country conditions, assist in drafting briefs, and provide joint supervision with other senior paralegals of our roster of contractor legal aids.
A successful candidate will be bilingual (English/Spanish), will display the ability to work independently, and as a cohesive unit. A Senior Paralegal must work effectively, be a self-starter, meet deadlines, and possess great attention to detail and organizational skills. Essential Responsibilities:
Assist attorneys in preparing and filing affirmative immigration applications for clients seeking legal status in the US
Collect supporting evidence and conduct country conditions research to support the client’s case.
Complete affidavits with clients and any witnesses.
Assist in the preparation of simple and/or complex motions.
Assist with the preparation of the exhibits list along with the exhibit packet for individual hearings.
Interpret cases as needed, such as the client’s individual hearing preparation.
Maintain and update case-management database.
Maintain direct client contact (phone calls/emails).
Schedule appointments for hearings, managing calendar, and deadlines.
Work with the Legal Assistant Team to ensure filing arrives at the proper location.
Develop effective working relationships and communicate with attorneys, staff, clients.
Basic Qualifications:
Must be fluent in Spanish (reading, writing, speaking)
High School Diploma/GED
Minimum of 2 years of work experience in immigration law (for Senior Paralegal)
Knowledge of Immigration Court Procedures
Able to handle a high volume of work independently and in teams
Able to work in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills
Detailed oriented and highly organized
Enthusiasm to learn and take on new challenges
Excellent customer service skills
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using AdobePro, Docketwise, Salesforce, SharePoint, and Zoom
Bachelors/associate degree with paralegal studies (ABA approved)
