Position Overview:
Oran Inc. is seeking a Junior IT Analyst to support a federal client within the Department of Homeland Security. This entry-level position plays a critical support role in report automation, data integration, and web application efforts. The ideal candidate will work alongside senior analysts, developers, and stakeholders to modernize and automate existing workflows. This role requires a solid technical foundation, eagerness to learn, and strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in gathering, analyzing, and documenting system requirements.
Support system impact analyses to contribute to modernization initiatives.
Participate in the development and automation of reports and dashboards.
Provide support throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Collaborate with developers and business analysts to maintain and enhance web applications and data pipelines.
Serve as a liaison between technical teams and stakeholders under guidance from senior staff.
Assist in data integration and platform migration tasks.
Support SQL query development and performance tuning in PostgreSQL environments.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Substitution Clause: Additional relevant work experience may substitute for formal education at a rate of 2 years of experience per year of education.
At least 1 year of experience in an IT Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar technical role (internship or academic project experience may be considered).
Foundational experience in:
Requirements gathering and documentation
Business process automation and basic system analysis
Report generation or automation tools
Exposure to the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
Technical Skills:
Programming: Familiarity with Python and/or Java
Web Frameworks: Exposure to React, Angular, or similar front-end technologies
Database Experience:
Basic understanding of PostgreSQL
Knowledge of database modeling and SQL development
Interest or experience in performance tuning or data migration practices
Additional Requirements:
Must be eligible to obtain DHS Public Trust clearance
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must complete DHS IT Security Awareness Training within 60 days of onboarding and annually thereafter
Work Environment:
Primarily remote, with potential for on-site work in Washington, DC, depending on final contract scope.
