Contract Duration
Coaching contracts last for one school year, at which time they may be renewed by the building principal and/or athletic director.
Coaches are expected to perform their duties and schedule practices and contests in accordance with the best interests of the student-athletes and guidelines from relevant governing bodies.
Compensation
Supplemental contracts provide a percentage increase to the employee's base salary. Contact the building principal or athletic director for specific percentages.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Must pass a background check
Preferred
Be a current certified teacher in good standing in the HCSD
Possess relevant experience in the sport
Other Requirements
Be able to learn and follow all applicable policies from all relevant governing bodies
Effectively and ethically liaison between the school district and students and guardians
Establish and maintain high standards for academic achievement, attendance, and behavior for student-athletes
Effectively coach and manage the team from a logistical, scheduling, and strategic perspective

Job Description
Houston County High School seeks an energetic Head Girls Basketball Coach to lead its TSSAA Division I, Class 1A, Region 6, District 12 program. The coach will develop student-athletes' fundamentals, strategic understanding, and sportsmanship, while fostering academic success and personal growth both on and off the court. This role includes teaching an 80-minute, for-credit fifth-block basketball course; recruiting, leading, and evaluating one or two stipended assistant coaches; coordinating practices, scrimmages, games, and the logistics necessary to host or attend such activities; and serving as a visible ambassador for Houston County athletics throughout the school and broader community.
